Tom
De Luca, CPDT, is a "Nationally Certified" and an "Accredited"
Canine Trainer, and Owner Instructor, through 2 institutions.
He is a professional member of APDT (Associated Pet Dog Trainers),
and is an AKC "Canine Good Citizen" (CGC) Evaluator.
Tom's methods involve 99% modern Positive Motivation/Praise/Reinforcement
Techniques to train his client's dogs, of which many are also
used in Dolphin Training and in dealing with Autistic children.
Paw-Lite has trained well over 750 dog/handler teams to date,
and has had success with both independent breed individuals, as
well as those eager to please. Tom specializes in terriers, but
has trained all classes of breeds, both in the Group Class setting,
and as a Full-Time Professional In-Kennel Primary-Staff Trainer.
His Irish Terrier, Meghan, currently holds a Companion Dog (CD)
Title for AKC Competition Obedience.
Tom has also trained dogs for:

All
training at Paw-Lite is based steadfastly on the tenants of
"Operant Conditioning" which reinforces and shapes
the dog's behavior using very practical "psychological"
training techniques including "Pack Leadership" and
"Active Communication".
Every dog is an individual regardless of breed. Tom has the
experience to evaluate your dog's temperament and match the
right techniques from various training methodologies , and he
will explain to you the "why's," and show you the
"how's" to redirect the dog away from "bad"
behavior, while reinforcing good ones.
In
cases of aggression, so far, Tom has not needed to recommend
any dog be put down. Behavior is always 100% modifiable! If
your dog is Dominant, Submissive, Territorial, Protective, Guarding,
Lunging, Biting, it can still be trained to be a great pet!
The
goal of my "Leadership Training" is based on Canine
Ethnology, Behaviour and Psychology, which the owner needs to
learn! At it's foundation, it is a natural method of communicating,
and understanding your dog through body language. It is a combination
of audible, tactile, visual stimuli based on normal canine social
behavior, which cannot be fully described verbally. Leadership
"Skills" have been accepted by many dog lovers as
the most humanistic approach in dog training. Learn to be your
dog's pack leader, while understanding the dog's natural instincts,
while in the process of training him.
